Myocardial Infarction is frequently associated with hospital readmission. Dexur’s analysis of the most recently available CMS data shows Methodist University Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee averaging at $3,000 less in revenue per patient than the national average, but surpassing the state average by about $700. Methodist University Hospital is the highest volume hospital in Tennessee for Medicare inpatients between October 2015 and September 2016. Dexur analyzed total revenue, total discharges, total unique patient discharges, and average revenue per patient. Average revenue per patient was then compared at the national, state, and individual hospital level across all hospital departments. Total revenue per patient is a significant metric health care professionals utilize to measure patient care costs across the country and to determine the patient population a hospital serves.
