Saint Joseph’s Medical Center in Yonkers, New York has been serving the community since 1888. Not only do they have excellent inpatient acute care resources, they also have extensive outpatient rehabilitation programs and nursing home facilities. St. Joseph’s serves many low income and homeless patients in this densely populated area. Healthcare disparities are common in all communities but are especially apparent here due to segregated low income neighborhoods and the need for behavioral health and social resources beyond clinical assistance for complex issues like substance abuse.
