Dexur's recent analysis of CMS Medicare claims data for 2013 through 2016 exhibited that Montefiore Medical Center’s discharge rate to skilled nursing facilities (SNFs) for DRG-896 (alcohol, drug abuse or dependence without rehabilitation therapy without major complication or comorbidity) was the lowest of all major hospitals in the New York City Metropolitan area, at 25%. SNF discharges are an important metric that healthcare professionals can use to determine the demographics of the population of patients a hospital serves, as it may reflect on the general state patients are in when discharged from a specific hospital.
