Dexur recently conducted an analysis of DRG-194 (simple pneumonia and pleurisy with complication or comorbidity) patients at Nevada hospitals and found that Desert Springs Hospital in Las Vegas has the lowest skilled nursing facility (SNF) discharge rate at 7.41%. It was one of six hospitals included in this study to have a SNF discharge rate below the state average of 12.78%. All eight major hospitals in these rankings had a SNF discharge rate below the national average of 18.55%. SNF discharge rate is typically indicative of the patient population as sicker patients are more likely to be discharged for a SNF.

A recent analysis conducted by Dexur on data collected between January 2016 and December 2016 found that over 15% of all Medicare inpatient discharges at Desert Springs Hospital in Las Vegas, NV were considered to be length of stay (LOS) outliers. This value was higher than both state and national averages. This metric refers to patients who remained admitted in the hospital much longer than the average patient classified in the same diagnosis-related group (DRG). Assessment of LOS outliers at the DRG level account for risk and case mix index.
