Tennova Healthcare-Physicians Regional Medical Center’s Rate of Readmissions Returning to Their Hospital is 14% Higher than the State’s Rate

Dexur’s analysis of the most recently available CMS data (January-December 2016) revealed that Tennova Healthcare-Physicians Regional Medical Center in Knoxville, Tennessee exceeded the state and national rates of readmission back to same (index) hospital by 14.13% and 12.98%, respectively. Tennova Healthcare-Physicians Regional Medical Center was the top volume discharging hospital in Knox County for Medicare inpatients. Dexur analyzed patients who were readmitted within 30 days and their rate of readmission to the same (index) hospital and to a different hospital. 30-day readmission rate is a widely used metric by healthcare professionals to evaluate quality of care; index hospital readmission rates are significant for determining quality of care for particular specialties at specific hospitals.
