Dexur analysts recently conducted a study on Connecticut hospitals’ payment per day from January to December 2016 and found that the UConn John Dempsey Hospital incurred an average $3,582.25 per patient day for all Medicare inpatients. This was over $1,300 more than the Connecticut state average payment per day in 2016. Average payment per day is a key metric that is useful for comparing different hospitals with varying discharge rates. It is also relevant to these particular government sponsored Medicare patients.
