In a recent analysis, Dexur studied Medicare Claims data of the hospices located in Georgia. The primary metric used for the evaluation was revenue per user. The information in the report will help healthcare professionals understand market position and dynamics better, and subsequently, plan their operational growth strategies.

The analysis indicated that by the end of Q3 2019, the nationwide count of hospice users was 644,511, out of which 21,353 users were from Georgia. At the national level, the revenue per user amounted to $10,207, while at the state level, it was $9,888. Wellstar Community Hospice, based in Austell, emerged among the top hospices in the state. In the third quarter of 2019, the hospice had 591 users, and its revenue per user was $7,183, much lower than the national figure. It can be observed that the hospice fared significantly better than in Q3 2018, as the revenue earned per user was $7722 with a user count of 518. Hence, evidently, the facility witnessed a 6.9% dip in its revenue generated per user during the course of one year. Also, the considerable rise in its user volume is noteworthy.

Speaking of its performance in Q3 2018, Wellstar Community Hospice recorded 518 users with the per-user revenue valuing at $7,722. Dexur’s database of ranking statistics based on case volume for the period Oct 2016 to Sep 2019 shows that Wellstar Community Hospice of Austell featured among the top 100 hospices nationwide, and ranked No.1 at the state level. Some of the other hospices which pulled in a sizable per-user revenue are- Regency SouthernCare, Sacred Journey Hospice, Agape Hospice Care of Carrollton, and Northeast Georgia Health System. Their per-user revenues in Q3 2019, respectively, were valued at $10,675, $10,184, $10,361, and $6,801.
