St. Francis Hospital discharged the most Oklahoma Medicare inpatients, according to relevant Dexur data; therefore, the lower revenue per patient day compared to the state and national averages is interesting. The hospital focuses on timely and proper care for patients. They have implemented a Stroke Program with a designated team trained to respond to incoming patients accordingly. Upon admission into the emergency department, all patients follow a similar process moving forward; they are immediately set up for CT scans and diagnostic screenings. The stroke team then evaluates the patient’s severity level according to the tests and their past medical records to transfer them to the appropriate physician. With in-depth programs like this one, often times a hospital is able to utilize medical tools resourcefully for a less costly average per day.
