Dexur analysts recently studied hospitals in Northern California that treated Medicare inpatients diagnosed with DRG-176 (pulmonary embolism without major complication or comorbidity), and discovered that UCSF Medical Center at Parnassus Heights had the lowest average length of stay in the region at 2.23 days. Length of stay is a heavily monitored and regulated quality outcome as hospital professionals ensure that patients spend less time in the hospital. However, medical professionals must ensure they do not risk quality of care or increase readmission rates due to less comprehensive care.
