Dexur analysts studied Medicare gastrointestinal hemorrhage inpatient data for Florida hospitals and found that Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast in Destin accounted for the lowest average length of stay (LOS) for a 30-day episode of care with unplanned readmissions of all hospitals in the state at 2.89 days between 2013-2016. Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast was the only facility in the state with an average LOS for a 30-day episode of care under 3 days. Florida Hospital North Pinellas in Tarpon Springs ranked 2nd at 3.28 days, Twin Cities Hospital in Niceville ranked 3rd at 3.3 days, Mayo Clinic Hospital in Jacksonville ranked 4th at 3.36 days, and Bayfront Health Dade City in Dade City ranked 5th at 3.43 days. 17 other hospitals in the state had a 30-day episode of care average LOS under 4 days while no hospital in the state averaged higher than 5 days.
