Dexur recently conducted an analysis on Medicare administrative claims data for DRG-683: renal failure with complication or comorbidity from 2016. This study examined New Jersey hospitals with over 3,500 total Medicare inpatient discharges, focusing on the top three hospitals with the highest super utilizer contribution to revenue. This metric can be compared to the super utilizer contribution to length of stay, which can then be used to further understand the revenue per patient day. Super utilizer contributions to revenue and LOS are explained in more depth in this article.
