Infections developed from cardiovascular implantable electronic devices (CIED) implant procedures are serious complications and lead to follow on readmissions. Dexur Analysed Medicare Inpatient data for the year Jan 2017 to Dec 2017, to determine post - CIED infections related readmission.  Below is a table of five large top 5 Hospitals performing CIED procedures and post CIED infection readmission rates at 30 days and 1 year.

The National average for Post CIED infection readmission rates are at 2.01% for 30 day and 4.82% for 1 year. Of the top 5 hospitals, Allina Health System of Minneapolis, Minnesota had the lowest 30 day (1.1%) and 1 year (3.86%) infection readmission rates followed by St. Francis Hospital of Roslyn, New York with 30 day at 1.87% and 1 year at 4.24%. These readmission rates with infection are less than the US average.

Central Vermont Medical Center of Berlin, Vermont’s 30 day (2.46%) and 1 year (8.1%), Mount Sinai Hospital of New York’s 30 day (2.47%) and 1 year (6.82%), and Nassau Health Care of East Meadow, New York’s 30 day (3%) and 1 year (5.12%) had readmission rates higher than the National average.

Central Vermont Medical Center’s 1 year post CIED infection readmission rate is almost double the national average.
