Recent analysis performed by Dexur showed that Oklahoma Heart Hospital was the only hospital in Oklahoma to have an average length of stay for a 30-day episode of care from all readmissions as well as just unplanned readmissions under 7 days. Following this lowest average LOS with unplanned readmissions in the state was INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center, which was the only other facility with at least one metric below one week with an average LOS for a 30-day episode of care at 6.49 days. Hillcrest Medical Center ranked 3rd overall for 30-day episode of care average LOS with unplanned readmissions at 7.12 days and Oklahoma Heart Hospital South Campus came in with an average LOS of 7.24 days, ranking 4th. Finally, Saint Francis Hospital ranked 5th with an average LOS for a 30-day episode of care with unplanned readmissions at 7.32 days. These five hospitals had the lowest average LOS in the state and were the only in the state to be below the national and state averages, as well as under 7.5 days.

In order to be included in this study, hospitals had to have at least 11 inpatient discharges for DRG-220 (Cardiac Valve and Other Major Cardiothoracic Procedures without Cardiac Catheterization with Complication or Comorbidity). DRG-220 is one of five cardiac valve and cardiothoracic procedures. The other four procedures were DRG-216, DRG-217, DRG-219, and DRG-221, which vary in the use of cardiac catheterization and the degree of complication or comorbidity.

The analysis of average LOS for a 30-day episode of care from DRG-220 readmissions was also performed on 2016 data alone. Comparing 2016 data to 2013 - 2016 data shows the progression of quality outcomes at hospitals over time to ensure that they are constantly improving. The top five hospitals are the same for both time periods but in a different order. In 2016, INTEGRIS Baptist Medical Center ranked 1st in the lowest average LOS rankings with unplanned DRG-220 readmissions at 6.12 days. They ranked 2nd overall for LOS with all DRG-220 readmissions at 7.65 days. Saint Francis Hospital had the 2nd lowest average LOS with unplanned readmissions and the lowest with all readmissions both at 7.17 days. Oklahoma Heart Hospital ranked 3rd in 2016 for the 30-day episode of care average LOS with unplanned readmissions at 7.18 days and 5th when including all readmissions with an average of 7.87 days. Hillcrest Medical Center averaged 7.25 days for the 30-day episode of care with unplanned readmissions, ranking 4th, and 3rd with all readmissions at 7.69 days. Finally, Oklahoma Heart Hospital South ranked 5th for average LOS for a 30-day episode of care with unplanned DRG-220 readmissions at 7.50 days. They placed 6th in average LOS for a 30-day episode of care including all readmissions with an average LOS of 7.94 days.
