Methodist Hospital’s Top Referring Home Health Care is Capitol Home Health

Dexur’s analysis of the Medicare Claims data from Oct 2016 to Sep 2019 reveals that Capitol Home Health of San Antonio ranked first in the list of home health cares that were referred by Methodist Hospital in Texas. Out of the 7,955 referrals made by Methodist Hospital for the period above, Capitol Home Health was referred for 569 of them, earning them a referral rate of 7.15%.

Capitol Home Heath’s referral rate was significantly higher than other referred home health care. Encompass Health Home Health ranked second with a 2.32 percent lower referral rate at 4.83% with 384 patients during this time. Kindred at Home ranked third with a referral rate of 3.87% from 308 episodes. Forte Health Services and Brookdale Home Health San Antonio ranked fourth and fifth with referral rates of 3.56% and 3.61%, respectively, with the former recording 283 episodes, while the later witnessed 3.61%. The graph below depicts the total episodes and referral rate of the top home health referrals from Methodist Hospital from Q4 2016 to Q3 2019.

Methodist Hospital had a total of 36,680 beneficiaries from Q4 2016 to Q3 2019, with a rate of 15.61 visits per episode. Surgical saw the most number of beneficiaries in the Methodist Hospital at 16,832, out of which 492 were referred to Capitol Home Health, with a referral rate of 14.67. Encompass Health Home Health had 139 referrals for Orthopedics, with a referral rate of 4.14%.

Capitol Home Health, from Q3 to Q4, had 4,414 episodes for all hospitals with 3,207 users. During this period, the total revenue for Capitol Home Health was $13,529,809, with an average payment per episode of $3,065 at a rate of 16.43 visits per episode.
