A Dexur analysis of CMS Medicare claims data showed that the highest volume physician in Kansas for all coronary bypass procedures was Dr. Gyanchand J. Khicha, who practiced at Wesley Medical Center and Via Christi Hospital St. Francis both in Wichita. Dr. G. Khicha discharged 324 coronary bypass Medicare inpatients between January 2013 and December 2016. He was followed by Dr. Sanjay G. Khicha, who had a discharge volume of 285. Dr. S. Kicha was associated with Wesley Medical Center and Via Christi Hospital St. Francis alongside the other Dr. Khicha, as well as at Kansas Heart Hospital. The only other physician in the state to surpass 200 coronary bypass discharges was Dr. Matthew A. Arneson of Kansas Heart Hospital with 281 discharges over four years. Dr. Brett E. Grizzell ranked 4th as the only Kansas physician to discharge more than 150 coronary bypass inpatients during the time period.

Doctors practicing in Kansas with at least 11 coronary bypass discharges between January 2013 and December 2016 were included in this analysis, which includes 15 total physicians. All coronary bypass procedures include six DRGs varying in the presence of cardiac catheterization, complications, and/or comorbidities. The most common DRG at the state level was DRG-234 (Coronary Bypass with Cardiac Catheterization without Major Complication or Comorbidity) with 1,100 discharges between 2013 - 2016, which made up nearly a third of all 3,361 coronary bypass discharges during this time period. DRG-236 (Coronary Bypass without Cardiac Catheterization without Major Complication or Comorbidity) was the most common DRG at the national level with 80,121 discharges out of the 248,173 throughout the nation.

These top three physicians were also the top three discharging by total coronary bypass during 2016 alone, but ranking in a different order. Dr. Arneson took the top spot with 98 discharges over the 12 months. Dr. S. Khicha maintained his 2nd rank discharging 90 coronary bypass inpatients, while Dr. G. Khicha discharged 81 coronary bypass inpatients to rank 3rd in the state. They also ranked in the top three for DRG-234 volume between 2013 and 2016 where Dr. Arneson discharged 110 such Medicare inpatients, Dr. Gyan Khicha ranked 2nd with 102 DRG-234 discharges, and Dr. Sanjay Khicha ranked 3rd in DRG-234 discharge volume with 92.
